ABOUT THE PROJECT
The buildings at Ægisgarður form the second cluster of retail and service structures at Vesturbugt in the old harbor area. The sales pavilions are connected by wooden decks featuring benches and storage sheds for various equipment. The disciplined design of the pavilions, characterized by simple forms and a limited selection of materials, replaces the disorder of the old market stalls. The small scale of the buildings necessitated carefully crafted urban design solutions. The project was nominated for the Icelandic Design Awards in 2021.
